UC 2010 BFA FACULTY EXCELLENCE AWARDS

UPDATE ON KÁROLY SCHRANZ' SURGERY
Second Violinist Károly Schranz is recovering well from rotator cuff surgery and will resume concerts with the Quartet from September, 2010.
BEETHOVEN DRAMA PROJECT
In the Fall, the Takács embark on an innovative project with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. QUARTET, written by David Lawrence Morse, explores the circumstances surrounding Beethoven's composition of the late quartets, integrating musical examples performed by the Takács. Following the drama, the quartet performs Beethoven's String Quartet in A-Minor, Op. 132.

2010-11: SCHUBERT AND NEW WORK IN NEW YORK AND ANN ARBOR
The Takács Quartet will perform a three-concert series focusing on Schubert in New York City (92nd Street Y), and at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor during the 2010-2011 season. The series will feature the New York premiere of a new work composed for the Quartet by Daniel Kellogg, based on the slow movement theme of Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" Quartet; guest pianist Jeffrey Kahane, guest cellist Paul Katz, and guest bassist Joseph Feeney.
